Please submit all application documents in English, we will not be able to consider applications in other languages at this time.

We we will let you know shortly afrer the participants we selected first confirm their commitment.
+ IF I AM SELECTED, HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE FUNDS?
The funds will be transferred directly to you after the conference and based on the receipts for registration, transportation and the hotel accommodation.
+ WHAT TYPE OF LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES SHOULD I INCLUDE ON MY CV?
Please list any examples of leadership within your wider technology community. This might include, among others, teaching, tutoring, lecturing, mentoring, organizing summits or contributing to open source projects.
+ HOW STRICT IS THE 300 WORDS REQUIREMENT FOR THE COVER LETTER?
Whilst 300 is only a guideline, we recommend you stick as closely to the word limit as possible.
+ I NEED A VISA TO ENTER SWITZERLAND.
We will support your visa application with an official invitation. When buying the tickets for your travel to Zurich, please take care about transit visa requirements for countries you will be passing through.
+ CAN MEN AND PEOPLE OF OTHER GENDERS ALSO APPLY FOR A TRAVEL GRANT?
Yes. Even though we primarily aim to support women in data science, we also equally welcome and consider applicants of other genders in the selection process.
+ DO I STILL NEED TO BUY A TICKET IF I RECEIVE THE TRAVEL GRANT?
No, your registration fee is waived if you are awarded a travel grant.
+ WHAT IS THE TRAVEL GRANT REIMBURSEMEMT PROCESS?
If you receive a travel grant, you will automatically get detailed instructions from us by e-mail. You will need to send us a filled-out reimbursement form and receipts (PDF/scanned/photo).
+ I WOULD LIKE TO APPLY, BUT I CANNOT AFFORD THE TICKETS.
For a limited number of well-founded cases (e.g. student with no source of funding), we are able to pay for your travel tickets upfront. Please request this by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
+ WHO IS ORGANIZING THE CONFERENCE?
We are >10 volunteers: students, researchers, artists, machine learning engineers and startup founders who share the passion and thrill of learning and inspiring others about what we do. We joined forces and use our experiences coming from very different cultural and educational backgrounds to create this unique event. You can learn more about us on our team page.
+ WHAT IS A KEYNOTE TALK?
Keynote talk is an hour long talk about a technical topic. This year we are planning to have 6 keynote speakers.
+ WHAT IS A LIGHTHING TALK?
Lightning talk is brief talk about a specific topic that takes around 20 minutes including Q&A. This year we are planning to have 15 lightning talk speakers.
+ WHAT ARE MENTORSHIP SESSIONS? WHO ARE THE MENTORS?
Mentors are speakers and special sponsor-representatives who share their knowledge on a previously determined topic with the attendees during the lunch break. The mentorship sessions take place in a relaxed environment and the participants are strongly encouraged to actively engage in the discussions.
+ WHAT ARE BREAKOUT SESSIONS?
Breakout sessions are a set of parallel hour-long sessions with speakers targeting a smaller audience of participants. The goal of breakout sessions is to provide a more friendly, engaging and networking-stimulating environment for all participants.
+ WHERE DO I REGISTER?
The registrations for 2019 are now closed. However, there are always late cancellations that open up a couple of spots. Contact us at email@example.com if you are interested in attending.
+ HOW MUCH IS THE TICKET?
The ticket for the conference is 100 CHF. If you are a student or PhD student, the fee is reduced to 40 CHF. Please make sure you send us a scan/photo of your student ID.
+ WHY DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A REGISTRATION FORM?
To provide the best learning and networking experience, we want to make sure the conference is well balanced. This is why we ask you to fill out a short registration form.
+ When will the results of the registration be communicated to the applicants?
All invitations have been sent. If you haven't received one or are interested in a spot at the conference, please contact us.
+ I filled out the registration form. How do i pay for the ticket?
You will receive a link for the payment from us by e-mail if you are selected to attend.
+ Can I both register and apply for the travel grant? What if I got the travel grant after I registered for the conference the regular way?
Please register only for the travel grant, it counts as conference registration automatically. Even if you don't receive the travel grant, you will still be considered for the conference and informed on time.
+ DO I NEED A TICKET TO ENTER OR IS JUST MY NAME ENOUGH?
Your name and an ID with a photo is enough-we have your data saved if you registered. Due to safety reasons, we cannot allow people without a ticket to enter the venue.
+ DO YOU PROVIDE CHILD CARE?
Yes, there will be on-site child care service in German and English free of charge for conference participants. Please let us know in the application form the number and age of your children, as well as their dietary and medical requirements.
+ IS THE CONFERENCE ACCESSIBLE FOR PARTICIPANTS WITH DISABILITIES?
We are dedicated to making our conference accessible to everyone. The venue is fully wheelchair-accessible and the talks will be live-captioned for participants with hearing disabilities. If you have other accessibility needs, please let us know in the application form.
+ How do i get to the venue?
The venue is 15 min of walk away from the Rüschlikon train station. There will be shuttle buses running from the Rüschlikon train station to the venue in the morning and back after the last session of the day. Please make sure you arrive to the Rüschlikon station on time (7:50 earliest and no later than 8:20) if you want to take the shuttle bus.
