Dr. Christine Choirat

Keynote Speaker

Main Conference, All

Christine Choirat believes access to data shouldn't come at the cost of privacy and has built her career proving it doesn't have to. As Head of Data Science & AI at the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, she tackles the challenge of unlocking the potential of administrative data for secondary use while strictly preserving privacy. Her team develops Lomas, a platform enabling confidential analysis of sensitive datasets, from health records to social statistics, without exposing raw data. Having taught at Harvard, EPFL, and the University of Geneva, she is committed to mentoring the next generation of data scientists and engineers.

Christine leads teams working on data science and AI for Switzerland’s public sector, supporting the Confederation, cantons, and communes in using advanced analytics responsibly in real-world settings. She began her career with a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Université Paris Dauphine and later worked at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a Senior Research Scientist. Her work connects rigorous statistical methods with practical impact, including contributions to large-scale environmental and health studies published in The New England Journal of Medicine and Science. She has taught AI and data science at Harvard, EPFL, ETH Zurich, and the University of Geneva, and enjoys working with students who are just starting to shape their own paths in the field.
