+ CAN I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH?
Please submit all application documents in English, we will not be able to consider applications in other languages at this time.

+ I WAS PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST. WHEN WILL I KNOW THE FINAL RESULT OF THE SELECTION?
We we will let you know shortly afrer the participants we selected first confirm their commitment.
+ IF I AM SELECTED, HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE FUNDS?
The funds will be transferred directly to you after the conference and based on the receipts for registration, transportation and the hotel accommodation.
+ WHAT TYPE OF LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES SHOULD I INCLUDE ON MY CV?
Please list any examples of leadership within your wider technology community. This might include, among others, teaching, tutoring, lecturing, mentoring, organizing summits or contributing to open source projects.
+ HOW STRICT IS THE 300 WORDS REQUIREMENT FOR THE COVER LETTER?
Whilst 300 is only a guideline, we recommend you stick as closely to the word limit as possible.
+ I NEED A VISA TO ENTER SWITZERLAND.
We will support your visa application with an official invitation. When buying the tickets for your travel to Zurich, please take care about transit visa requirements for countries you will be passing through.
+ CAN MEN ALSO APPLY FOR A TRAVEL GRANT?
Yes. Even though we primarily aim to support women in data science, we also equally welcome and consider male applicants in the selection process.
+ WHO IS ORGANIZING THE CONFERENCE?
We are 22 volunteers: students, researchers, artists, machine learning engineers and startup founders who share the passion and thrill of learning and inspiring others about what we do. We joined forces and use our experiences coming from very different cultural and educational backgrounds to create this unique event. You can learn more about us on our team page.
+ WHAT IS A KEYNOTE TALK?
Keynote talk is an hour long talk about a technical topic. This year we are planning to have 6 keynote speakers.
+ WHAT IS A LIGHTHING TALK?
Lightning talk is brief talk about a specific topic that takes around 20 minutes including Q&A. This year we are planning to have 15 lightning talk speakers.
+ WHAT ARE MENTORSHIP SESSIONS? WHO ARE THE MENTORS?
Mentors are speakers and special sponsor-representatives who share their knowledge on a previously determined topic with the attendees during the lunch break. The mentorship sessions take place in a relaxed environment and the participants are strongly encouraged to actively engage in the discussions.
+ WHAT ARE BREAKOUT SESSIONS?
Breakout sessions are a set of parallel hour-long sessions with speakers targeting a smaller audience of participants. The goal of breakout sessions is to provide a more friendly, engaging and networking-stimulating environment for all participants.
+ WHERE DO I REGISTER?
The registrations are opening soon. The link to the registration form will be posted on the website.
+ DO YOU PROVIDE CHILD CARE?
Yes, there will be on-site child care service in German and English free of charge for conference participants. Please let us know in the application form the number and age of your children, as well as their dietary and medical requirements.
+ IS THE CONFERENCE ACCESSIBLE FOR PARTICIPANTS WITH DISABILITIES?
We are dedicated to making our conference accessible to everyone. The venue is fully wheelchair-accessible and the talks will be live-captioned for participants with hearing disabilities. If you have other accessibility needs, please let us know in the application form.
